This exhibition brings together four Italian artists whose work, though varied in technique and approach, is united by a focus on making as a meditative gesture. Whether repetitive and meticulous or immediate and spontaneous, this gesture becomes a common thread – one that transforms time, matter, and attention. Through processes that demand concentration and presence, the artists explore making not just as the production of form, but as a space for reflection and attentive awareness. The gesture – repeated or sudden – takes on an almost ritual quality, where thought settles into action and action itself becomes a form of language. A quiet dialogue emerges between artwork and process, where slowness, precision, and expressive urgency each reveal different ways of inhabiting time and shaping meaning.

Andrea Chiaravalli

b. 1963

A Milanese artist born in 1963, he studied life drawing and the human form at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and engraving at the Academy for Artisans at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. He worked for 40 years as a jewellery designer, developing a personal and recognisable style, which is reflected in his paintings and prints. The jewellery and silverware he has designed have been displayed in various exhibitions, often alongside paintings depicting them. His works have been featured in newspapers and magazines covering fashion and design, from AD to Ideat, and from Case da abitare to ElleDecor. His painting style has evolved from swift brushstrokes to a more controlled approach, with a measured use of colour. He loves motorbike trips and extreme ultra-marathons, which he runs whilst immersed in nature: his latest paintings feature shadows, flowers, branches and dynamic lines.

Giulia Birindelli

b. 1973, Rome

Milan

Giulia Birindelli was born in Rome in 1973 and has long been based in Milan, where she lives and works. Through a range of techniques, including embroidery, her practice explores the subtle space between silence and mark. Her most recent exhibition, held in November 2025, took place in Rome at Galleria Studio Sales, directed by Norberto Ruggeri. “Ours is a century in which the certainties and optimism of modernity are giving way to a deeper level of reality – ambiguous, uncertain presences that belong to human life and not merely to the globalized marketplace. (...) It is precisely this mysterious dimension that emerges in Giulia Birindelli’s work: wounded surfaces that transform verses into sacred texts, provisional poems that become eternal at the very moment they reveal their own incompleteness.” Andrea Branzi
